The Regions

Black cat on shoulder

The work of the RSPCA covers England and Wales. In addition to the Society's HQ, five management regions have been established covering the whole of the country, each with a regional headquarters. Each region provides a number of animal welfare and other services.

The regional manager has regional responsibility for the efficient delivery of the Society's objectives and oversees the work of all the regional staff through the formulation and implementation of a regional plan.

Branches development advisers (BDA)

Working from home, and reporting directly to the animal welfare manager, BDAs liaise with, and support the work of the branches, providing organisational, financial and constitutional advice. The BDAs also attend branch committee meetings and provide volunteer support and training. BDAs are the first point of contact for a branch trustee when seeking help or advice.

In the five regions there are a total of 44 groups of inspectors each led by a chief inspector. Each region is led by the regional superintendent.

Each region has a regional education adviser who manages a group of education officers. This team provides information and support for schools and colleges. The Society receives a number of requests for talks about its work, and whilst branch volunteers are encouraged to train and provide talks to interested parties, they are not authorised to do this in schools.
